Boracay Hotels plug into cheaper, steadier power with first-of-its-kind energy pact

Five Boracay hotels have banded together to secure more stable and affordable electricity, becoming the Philippines’ first retail-aggregated hotel group under the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP).

EvoEnergi, the retail electricity supplier behind the initiative, said the new collective—dubbed EVO Boracay—brings together Discovery World Boracay, Hue Hotels and Resorts, The Lind Boracay, and Ferra Premier with Ferra Hotel & Garden Suites. Together, they represent a combined peak demand of roughly 1,360 kW.

RAP allows multiple smaller electricity consumers within the same franchise area to pool their loads and negotiate supply contracts previously accessible only to larger users. While the parties did not disclose pricing details, they said the arrangement is expected to deliver significant cost savings and improved energy stability.

EvoEnergi president Jacob Lao called the agreement a “historic milestone,” noting that lower energy costs could free up funds for upgraded guest services. Hotel executives said the partnership strengthens cooperation amid softer tourism demand, helps them manage seasonal energy needs, and supports shifts to more sustainable power sources.

EvoEnergi, part of the D&L Group, currently serves contestable customers with at least 500 kW in monthly peak demand. That threshold is set to drop to 100 kW by June next year, potentially expanding access to similar programs.
