PNB execs honored for cybersecurity, digital fraud prevention

The Philippine National Bank (PNB) strengthened its position as a security leader after two of its top executives were recognized at the 18th Security Management International Convention on October 27, 2025, in Manila.

The event, which focused on how security professionals can adapt to fast-changing digital threats, gathered experts to discuss new risks and the latest innovations in the field.

PNB senior vice president and chief security officer Roderick R. Soriano was featured as a key resource speaker. He presented insights on rising digital fraud within the Philippine financial sector, explaining how fraud has evolved and highlighting the importance of laws such as AFASA. He also shared practical steps financial institutions can take to strengthen fraud prevention and response.

For his contributions to the security profession, Soriano received the Doctor of Excellence in Industrial Security Management from the Philippine Society for Industrial Security (PSIS).

PNB’s Melvar C. Benedicto, head of the administration and technical support division under the bank’s Corporate Security Group, was also awarded the same distinction for his work in improving corporate security systems.

PSIS, the country’s largest group of security professionals, promotes innovation and high standards in protecting people, property, and information across multiple industries.

PNB said the recognition of its security leaders underscores the bank’s continued efforts to strengthen digital security and protect clients from emerging cyber and fraud threats.
