Recto moves to Palace’s top post; Frederick Go tapped as new Finance chief

The Department of Finance (DOF) begins the week with a leadership change as Malacañang on Monday announced the appointment of Frederick L. Go as the agency’s new secretary. Go steps in following the resignation of Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, who has been swiftly promoted to Executive Secretary.

According to Palace press officer and Undersecretary Claire Castro, Recto assumes the powerful “Little President” role with the departure of former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

Go, previously serving as Special Assistant to the President for Investments and Economic Affairs, brings extensive private-sector experience to the DOF. His former post served as a key conduit between business leaders and government policymakers. Prior to joining the administration, he held long-standing executive roles within the Gokongwei Group of Companies, spanning real estate, transport, retail, and other sectors.

The leadership changes signal a recalibration in the administration’s economic and administrative ranks as the government positions itself for upcoming fiscal and investment priorities.
