Gas prices seen dipping Tuesday as diesel, kerosene head for hikes

The various fuel retailers expect mixed pump price movements this week, with gasoline set for a slight rollback and diesel and kerosene poised to rise.

Jetti Petroleum projects a ₱0.30 to ₱0.50 per liter decrease in gasoline on Tuesday, but predicts a ₱0.40 to ₱0.60 increase for diesel based on last week’s crude trading. Company president Leo Bellas said global supply concerns – driven by potential U.S. sanctions on Russian oil firms, refinery maintenance in Northeast Asia, and limited exports from China – continue to push up middle distillate prices such as diesel, jet fuel, and kerosene.

Asian gasoline prices, however, have softened amid slowing regional demand and a jump in U.S. gasoline inventories, signaling weaker consumption in the world’s largest economy.

The Department of Energy’s monitoring also indicates a sharper ₱1.35 per liter hike for kerosene. DOE official Rodela Romero noted that OPEC+ countries maintain an outlook of global oversupply amid weak economic indicators.

The expected adjustments follow last week’s ₱1.20-per-liter increase for both gasoline and diesel. Year-to-date, pump prices remain elevated, with net increases of ₱19.90 for gasoline, ₱24.05 for diesel, and ₱8.65 for kerosene.

As of Nov. 18–24, NCR pump prices average ₱56.70 (RON 91 gasoline) per liter, ₱57.95 (diesel) per liter, and ₱79.60 (kerosene) per liter.
