    Davao River Bridge nears completion

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Monday that the China-funded Davao River Bridge is nearly complete and is expected to be finished by the end of November, helping reduce traffic congestion in Davao City’s eastern and western coastal areas.

Construction of the bridge is 99.2 percent complete, with only minor works remaining, including pavement markings, sidewalks, fencing, and final electrical installations. Public Works senior undersecretary Emil Sadain said the agency is working to finish these tasks while ensuring safety and quality standards.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged DPWH to speed up the nearby Bucana Bridge project to further improve connectivity in the city.

The P3.1-billion Davao River Bridge, funded by China’s official development assistance, is a four-lane, six-span extradosed bridge stretching 480 meters, with 1,340 meters of approach roads. Its full opening will coincide with the completion of the asphalt road to Quezon Boulevard, expected by December, providing main access for motorists to the bridge and the Davao City Coastal Road.
