The Jollibee Group has earned the Silver Award at the first Asia ESG Positive Impact Awards, held on November 6 in Kuala Lumpur, for its strong commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. The award recognizes the impact of the Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP), led by the Jollibee Group Foundation, which helps smallholder farmers in the Philippines become direct suppliers to the company.
The regional awards, organized by A-EPIC Asia, bring together ESG leaders from across Asia. Winners from national competitions in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia competed for top honors. Malaysian Deputy Minister for Energy Transition and Water Transformation Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir praised the awardees for driving meaningful sustainability efforts alongside government initiatives.
At the heart of Jollibee Group’s recognition is the FEP, which trains farmers, connects them to markets, and provides resources to help them meet supply requirements. The program supports steady, sustainable sourcing for the company while helping farmers grow their income and strengthen their communities.
Jollibee Group Foundation president Gisela Tiongson said the award highlights how collaboration among companies, farmers, and communities can support inclusive growth. She noted that participating farmers have built confidence, upgraded their farms, and improved their families’ quality of life.
The company’s sustainability work falls under its “Joy for Tomorrow” framework, which focuses on Food, Planet, and People. Global Chief Sustainability Officer Pepot Miñana said the recognition reinforces the company’s commitment to strengthening farmers’ livelihoods and expanding the reach of FEP.
The program also supports global development efforts, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on Zero Hunger, by improving farmers’ access to training, markets, and better livelihood opportunities.
