Aboitiz Group sends aid to earthquake-hit families in Cebu

The Aboitiz Group, through the Aboitiz Foundation, has distributed Home Recovery Assistance Packages to 225 families in San Remigio, Cebu, whose homes were damaged by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck the province on September 30.

The packages include cement vouchers, construction materials, and cash support to help residents begin repairing or rebuilding their homes. The Foundation worked with the San Remigio local government, Republic Cement, and Vic Enterprises to ensure quality materials and smooth distribution.

Of the beneficiaries, 168 households with partially damaged homes received ₱10,000 each, while 57 families whose homes were totally destroyed received ₱30,000 each.

The initiative is part of the broader OneAboitiz disaster response, which has so far provided more than ₱17 million in assistance to over 37,000 families affected by recent calamities in North Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao — including Typhoon Uwan, Typhoon Tino, and earthquake impacts in Cebu and Davao.

During the turnover ceremony, AboitizPower Distribution Utilities COO Anton Perdices praised the resilience of San Remigio residents, saying the assistance represents “tools to rebuild hope, dignity, and the place you call home.” He also thanked local officials and partner organizations for supporting community recovery.

The Aboitiz Foundation said it remains committed to long-term rehabilitation efforts, emphasizing that real recovery begins when families can restore their homes, livelihoods, and sense of normalcy.
