Jetstar opens Brisbane–Cebu route, expanding Australia–PH air links

Jetstar has launched its first direct flights between Brisbane and Cebu, the airline’s inaugural service to a Philippine destination outside Manila. The new route is expected to boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two countries.

Australia’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Marc Innes-Brown, said the service reflects the Australian Government’s commitment to strengthening economic ties. He added that the timing may also support Cebu’s recovery following a recent typhoon.

The route follows updated air services arrangements agreed to in September, which will double permitted passenger flights between the two countries to 70 per week by late 2026. The agreement also expands cargo rights and codeshare options for airlines.

The new service aligns with Australia’s broader Southeast Asia Economic Strategy, which aims to deepen trade and investment links with the region, including the Philippines.
