PAL adds new aircraft to expand domestic flights

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has received the first of five new Airbus A320 planes to strengthen its domestic network. Another A320 will join before the end of 2025, with three more arriving in 2026.

Each A320 can carry 180 passengers, allowing PAL to increase flight frequency and improve connections between major hubs and regional destinations. “By expanding our A320 fleet, we are providing travelers with more reliable, convenient, and comfortable options,” said Rabbi Vincent Ang, president of PAL Express.

The new planes are part of PAL’s wider fleet upgrade, which also includes Airbus A350-1000s for long-haul routes, upgraded narrow-body aircraft, and planned acquisitions of A321neo jets. These efforts aim to enhance reliability, safety, and the passenger experience.

PAL has recently been recognized by Cirium as the top airline for on-time performance among Asia-Pacific carriers for three months in a row, from August to October. The airline has also increased flight frequencies to key domestic destinations—including Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Legazpi, Dumaguete, and Tacloban—just ahead of the peak travel season.

With the new additions, PAL’s total fleet will reach 80 aircraft, including 16 A320s operating on major domestic routes. The airline currently flies from Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao to 31 destinations in the Philippines and 39 international destinations across Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
