The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) have signed a new agreement to turn Clark International Airport (CRK) into a leading center for industrial, manufacturing, transport and related services.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed both agencies to look for ways to boost market access and improve passenger flow at the airport.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the project is key for Central Luzon, noting that it will strengthen the aviation and aerospace sectors and support economic growth. BCDA president and CEO Joshua Bingcang added that the plan will bring more manufacturing and transport businesses to the Clark area, increasing its economic contribution.
Under the agreement, the DOTr, BCDA and CRK’s private operator, LIPAD Corp., will set up a dedicated site for Industrial, Manufacturing and Transport (IMT) businesses inside the airport complex. They will also study possible incentive programs to attract companies.
Lopez said the initiative will help boost tourism and drive regional development, supporting the goals of the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028.
