Repower Energy Development Corp. (REDC) has officially opened its 18.2-megawatt Pulangi Hydropower Plant, located between Valencia City and San Fernando in Bukidnon. The facility was inaugurated by company leaders alongside officials from the Department of Energy (DOE), the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM), and partner organizations.
The run-of-river plant is REDC’s ninth operating hydropower facility and its first in Mindanao. It is expected to produce about 130 gigawatt-hours of clean power per year, contributing to the region’s renewable energy supply.
According to DOE sources, the Pulangi plant is among the first hydropower facilities eligible for the Energy Regulatory Commission’s new Feed-in Tariff Round 4, which has a preliminary rate of ₱6.38 per kilowatt-hour.
REDC presidebt Eric Roxas said the project reflects the company’s commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable energy. He added that hydropower remains a key contributor to the country’s clean energy goals and will help strengthen Mindanao’s renewable energy infrastructure.
