MVP Group chiefs explore AI to drive growth

Leaders of the MVP Group gathered at the 2025 Annual Corporate Governance Enhancement Session (ACGES) at the Meralco Theater to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can drive business growth and improve decision-making across their companies. The session, titled “Decision Intelligence and SuperCreativity: Leading in the Age of AI,” brought together directors, officers, and advisory board members from companies under Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, including PLDT, MERALCO, Metro Pacific Investments, Maynilad, and others.

Global experts Cassie Kozyrkov, Google’s first Chief Decision Scientist, and James Taylor, a specialist in creativity and innovation, shared insights on responsible AI adoption and enhancing human creativity through technology. Kozyrkov emphasized that AI success depends on skilled leadership and workforce judgment, warning against blindly trusting AI-generated outputs and urging organizations to teach employees how to ask the right questions and validate results. She called AI “a leadership game” and stressed that effective adoption requires upskilling people to interpret and act on AI advice responsibly.

Taylor introduced the concept of “SuperCreativity,” where AI amplifies human creativity, and highlighted the need for strong AI governance, a supportive culture, and skills like collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication. He also cautioned against the “competency penalty,” where workers avoid using AI for fear of seeming less capable, urging organizations to showcase role models who use AI effectively.

A panel discussion featuring Kozyrkov, Taylor, and industry leaders from PLDT, Meralco, Kayana, and Maya Bank examined how AI is reshaping sectors such as telecommunications, power, and fintech. Panelists stressed that AI delivers real value only when grounded in clear business objectives, robust infrastructure, and reliable data. They also highlighted AI’s role in driving transformation, enabling growth, and building trust with customers.

Now in its 19th year, the ACGES remains a key platform for the MVP Group to strengthen governance, explore emerging trends, and equip leaders to navigate the rapidly evolving business and technology landscape.
