Alternergy Holdings Corp. has secured system impact study (SIS) approval from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for all five renewable energy projects it won under the fourth Green Energy Auction (GEA 4).
Company president Gerry Magbanua said the approvals confirm that the grid can support the planned projects and allow Alternergy to move ahead with development. The SIS is a key post-auction requirement and determines whether new power projects will require grid upgrades such as transmission lines or substations.
The five winning projects—together expected to deliver up to 500 megawatts—include the Liberty floating solar phases A and B in Luzon, the Kalandagan solar project with battery storage in Mindanao, and two wind farms: Tayabas North in Luzon and Alegria in the Visayas. All GEA 4 projects must be completed by December 2028.
Alternergy said these developments form its next growth pipeline, on top of several projects already under construction. These include the Tanay Rizal (128 MW) and Alabat (64 MW) wind farms in Quezon, the Solana solar project in Bataan, and two run-of-river hydro plants in Nueva Ecija and Ifugao.
The company earlier said it is targeting a total generating capacity of 311 MW by year-end, up from its current 86 MW portfolio, as it works toward reaching 500 MW by 2026.
