Mixed fuel price changes seen this week

Fuel companies signal mixed price movements for petroleum products this week.

Jetti Petroleum Inc. said gasoline prices may stay unchanged or rise slightly by up to P0.20 per liter, while diesel prices may drop by P0.20 to P0.40 per liter. The adjustment will take effect Tuesday.

Jetti president Leo Bellas said the peso’s weakness against the US dollar limited potential price rollbacks, even as global oil prices eased. He added that freight and premium costs remain high, though they have started to decline.

The Department of Energy (DOE) said kerosene prices could fall by as much as P0.65 per liter, based on its price monitoring last week.

Fuel firms raised gasoline prices by P1.20 per liter last week, while diesel and kerosene prices were unchanged.

Since the start of the year, fuel prices have risen by P21.10 per liter for gasoline, P21.75 for diesel, and P6.75 for kerosene.

As of December 2 to 8, prices in Metro Manila averaged P56.20 per liter for gasoline, P54.60 for diesel, and P79.67 for kerosene.
