    SMAC rewards families for every remittance

    SMAC, the country’s leading loyalty program, and BDO Remit, BDO Unibank’s trusted remittance service, have formed a new partnership to give more value to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families. The agreement was formalized in November at the BDO Corporate Center in Ortigas, Pasig.

    Under the partnership, families receiving cash remittances through BDO Remit at SM Stores nationwide will automatically earn SMAC loyalty points. These points can be used for future shopping or essential purchases within the SM network.

    John Patrick Cua, chief operating officer of SM Retail – Digital Advantage Corp., said the collaboration reflects SMAC’s mission to reward members and recognize the hard work of OFWs. Jeffrey Ang, VP Treasury of SM Retail, highlighted the shared vision and opportunities the partnership brings, while Genie T. Gloria, BDO SVP and remittance head, emphasized plans to enhance the Cash Pickup system for more remitters in the future.

    Active SMAC members can now earn 1 SMAC Point for every P10,000 received through BDO Remit. To earn points, members simply need to present their SMAC card when claiming their cash pickup at the Currency Exchange counter inside any SM Store. Starting December 1, 2025, the program will also be available at SM Markets and WalterMart Supermarkets.

    The partnership aims to make every remittance transaction more rewarding, giving OFW families extra spending power for essentials while strengthening their connection with the SM ecosystem.
