DFNN unit wins NAIA passenger processing contract

DFNN Inc.’s technology unit, iWave Inc., has been awarded a contract to help upgrade passenger processing systems at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 3.

iWave was named the implementing partner of Amadeus I.T. Group SA for the rollout of new biometric and E-gate solutions. The project includes the installation of 78 biometric immigration E-gates, which are expected to cut processing time to about 20 seconds per traveler.

Under the agreement, iWave will handle system operations, maintenance, diagnostics, and Level 1 and Level 2 technical support in a high-volume, government-regulated airport environment.

The company also won a competitive bid for a P1.52 billion contract awarded by the Bureau of Immigration to supply biometric and border control E-gate solutions. The project, which was bid below the approved budget, will also be rolled out in other major airports, including Cebu, Clark, Bohol, and Davao.

DFNN and iWave said the project comes as passenger volumes continue to rise, increasing the need for reliable and efficient airport systems. Industry estimates show international arrivals could exceed 12.9 million by 2026, supporting long-term demand for modern travel infrastructure.

iWave president Ramon C. Garcia Jr. said the partnership supports nation-building by improving public service through digital infrastructure. iWave COO Marco Antonio R. Urera added that the company aims to help provide faster, more secure, and more seamless airport experiences for travelers.
