Ampotech plugs smart energy into Philippine ecozones

Singapore-based energy technology firm Ampotech is making its Philippine debut with plans to deploy AI-driven energy and carbon management solutions across economic zones run by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

Ampotech and PEZA signed a memorandum of understanding on December 15 for a landmark demonstration project that is still being finalized. Once implemented, the initiative to show how intelligent energy systems can cut power costs, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen carbon emissions tracking across industrial parks and facilities.

The proposed rollout will integrate building energy management systems with solar power, energy storage, and digital asset tracking. By optimizing how energy is generated, stored, and consumed, the project is expected to deliver measurable savings while giving PEZA and locator companies clearer, data-backed visibility into their carbon footprints.

The collaboration marks Ampotech’s entry into the Philippine market following an aggressive regional expansion over the past year. The company recently opened offices in Malaysia, Hong Kong SAR, and Indonesia, building on a portfolio that includes AI- and Internet of Things-enabled energy solutions deployed across hundreds of commercial and industrial facilities.

Ampotech also manages around 50 megawatts of solar assets across the region.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with PEZA on this initiative,” said Ampotech chief executive officer and co-founder William Temple. “The scale and diversity of the ecozones provide a powerful platform to demonstrate the full capabilities of our AmpoCloud platform and create a model that can be replicated across Southeast Asia.”

Joint scoping activities will be conducted with PEZA to map out implementation across multiple ecozones and define the project’s next phases. The demonstration project is targeted to begin in the first quarter of 2026.

For PEZA, the partnership aligns with its push to modernize ecozone infrastructure and position the Philippines as a competitive destination for sustainable manufacturing and services. Sustainability remains a core pillar of PEZA’s strategy, supported by ongoing initiatives such as large-scale rooftop solar installations and broader energy decarbonization efforts.
