Anglicotech doubles down on APECO defense play

US-based defense supply chain firm Anglicotech LLC has reaffirmed its investment commitment in the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO), signaling sustained confidence in the Philippines as a hub for defense, security, and logistics services.

The Virginia-based company reiterated its interest following a high-level meeting in Pasay City on December 19 between APECO president and chief executive officer Gil G. Taway IV and Anglicotech chief executive officer David Cooper. The talks focused on the firm’s continued engagement in the country and its long-term strategic outlook.

Discussions highlighted Anglicotech’s view of APECO as a viable location supporting national security objectives, logistics operations, and related defense services. Both sides also underscored the company’s intention to pursue a measured, multi-phase investment approach—building on existing capabilities while allowing room for expansion as market demand and policy conditions evolve.

Taway stressed the importance of alignment with government priorities, regional stability, and sustainable economic development, noting that defense-related investments are highly sensitive to policy clarity and governance standards.

“Our engagement with Anglicotech reflects a shared understanding that defense-related investments require stability, clarity of policy, a long-term view, and good governance. We are strengthening this under APECO’s current reforms,” Taway said.

He added that APECO remains committed to fostering an investment environment that supports responsible defense-linked industries, while generating jobs and promoting inclusive growth in Aurora province.

Ahead of the December meeting, Cooper and Anglicotech Philippines country manager Edmund Rustia conducted a site inspection of the APECO ecozone in Casiguran, Aurora on August 16.

Anglicotech has operated in Subic since 2024, providing logistics, C5ISR—command, control, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance—and foreign military sales support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States Department of Defense, reinforcing its expanding footprint in the region.
