Red lights were turned on at Makati Medical Center on Saturday, January 3, as the hospital issued an urgent call for blood donors amid a dwindling supply.
“Donors are urgently needed as our blood supply is currently low,” MakatiMed said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. “Let’s give the gift of life as we usher in the new year.”
The hospital urged healthy individuals to step forward, reminding the public that a single blood donation can save up to three lives.
MakatiMed, part of Metro Pacific Health—the country’s largest private hospital group and the healthcare arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.—said its blood bank is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. to accommodate donors.
Hospital officials said replenishing blood reserves is critical to ensure uninterrupted care for patients requiring surgery, trauma treatment, and other life-saving procedures.
