Globe Telecom Inc. is deploying battery charging hubs in typhoon-prone areas of South Luzon and Bicol to help keep mobile and internet services running during power outages.
The hubs allow Globe to quickly test, recharge, and replace backup batteries that power cell sites, reducing downtime during emergencies. This is especially important in areas frequently hit by severe weather, where communication services are often disrupted.
“Connectivity is vital, especially during disasters. We want communities to rely on Globe even in difficult situations,” said Joel Agustin, senior vice president for Network Planning and Engineering.
Battery charging hubs are now operating in San Pablo, Laguna, and Batangas, with another underway in Pili, Camarines Sur. More sites are planned in Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, and Romblon.
The initiative also supports Globe’s sustainability efforts by improving energy efficiency and supporting the use of renewable energy.
