Jollibee doubles down on Visayas, Mindanao supply line

Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) is sharpening its logistics edge in the Visayas and Mindanao with the opening of a new food commissary in Guinsay, Danao City, Cebu—an investment that underscores the company’s long-term growth strategy and confidence in regional demand.

Inaugurated on Thursday, January 8, the facility is Jollibee’s fourth commissary hub in Cebu and its 12th nationwide. More than just another production site, it is designed to serve six of Jollibee’s 13 brands and supply stores across the Visayas and Mindanao.

The expansion strengthens Jollibee’s distribution backbone beyond Luzon, where much of its supply infrastructure has traditionally been concentrated.

The new commissary is as much about efficiency as it is about scale. By locating production closer to high-growth markets, Jollibee can cut transport costs, shorten delivery lead times, and improve supply reliability—critical advantages as store networks continue to expand outside Metro Manila.

Jollibe Philippines President Joseph Tanbuntion noted the role of the new facility in ensuring consistent product quality while supporting regional development. He added that the investment aligns with the company’s broader effort to build a more balanced, resilient national supply chain.

The opening also drew strong government backing. Trade Secretary Cristina A. Roque, who attended the inauguration, said the continued rollout of commissaries encourages investment and reinforces the country’s food supply resilience.
She commended Jolliber for supporting employment generation, particularly outside Luzon.

“This commissary is a massive win for Danao and the entire province of Cebu,” Roque said, noting that each new facility creates jobs and growth opportunities for local industries.

The Guinsay commissary is expected to generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, spanning manufacturing, logistics, and allied services.

Beyond employment, it reinforces Cebu’s role as a strategic production and distribution hub in the central Philippines.

In a meeting with Tanbuntiong, Roque encouraged Jollibee to continue expanding its commissary network and committed the Department of Trade and Industry’s support to help advance future expansion plans—further anchoring growth in the Visayas and Mindanao.
