Philippine Airlines (PAL) said Monday that it will receive eight Airbus A350-1000 aircraft through 2027 as part of its fleet expansion and efforts to support the country’s tourism industry.
The flag carrier recently introduced its first A350-1000, making it the first airline in Southeast Asia to operate the long-range widebody aircraft. The aircraft was unveiled at a ceremony in Villamor Airbase attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, government officials, and industry leaders.
PAL Holdings president Lucio C. Tan III said the new aircraft reflects the airline’s recovery and its commitment to competing globally while supporting national development. He emphasized PAL’s role in connecting people, supporting jobs, and contributing to the country’s growth.
PAL said five more A350-1000s are scheduled for delivery in 2026, with the remaining three arriving in 2027.
The new aircraft will be used on long-haul routes to the US and Canada. It offers improved fuel efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and the ability to use sustainable aviation fuel. The A350-1000 also provides increased cargo capacity, supporting PAL’s freight operations.
With the addition of the new aircraft, PAL’s fleet now totals 82 planes. The airline said the expansion supports its ongoing modernization program and plans to strengthen its global network.
