DTI, PSE pitch listings for enterprises’ growth

Medium and large enterprises are being encouraged to tap the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) as a strategic pathway for faster expansion, deeper capital access, and long-term business sustainability.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the PSE have agreed to work toward a memorandum of agreement that will formalize their collaboration in promoting stock market listing among qualified companies.

The initiative is aimed at helping enterprises scale up, professionalize operations, and unlock new growth opportunities.

DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque raised the push during her meeting with PSE President and CEO Ramon Monzon on January 20, underscoring listing as a viable growth strategy for medium and large enterprises ready to expand beyond traditional financing options.

“This is going to support them for their expansion,” Roque said, noting that several companies have already signified interest in pursuing a PSE listing. She added that access to capital markets would not only accelerate business growth but also translate into job creation and stronger, more resilient enterprises.

As the government agency that registers single proprietorships, the DTI sees the initiative as part of a broader effort to help firms move up the value chain—from small operations to larger, more competitive players in both domestic and regional markets.

Monzon welcomed the partnership, stressing the PSE’s commitment to guiding potential issuers through the listing process. “We are fully committed to partnering with DTI to educate potential medium and large enterprises about listing in the exchange,” he said.

He added that interested companies can tap the PSE’s Listing Engagement and Assistance Program (LEAP), a free, hands-on support platform designed to guide firms through regulatory, financial, and governance requirements. LEAP functions as a one-stop shop, helping companies assess readiness and navigate the path to becoming publicly listed.

By aligning policy support with capital market access, the DTI and PSE aim to position listing as a practical growth route for Philippine enterprises seeking to scale, compete, and create more economic value.
