Ayala Land sets global benchmark in low-carbon offices

Ayala Land Inc. has become the world’s largest owner of EDGE Zero Carbon–certified office buildings, with more than 1.5 million square meters of commercial office space meeting the global standard as of December 2025.

The certification confirms that Ayala Land’s office portfolio significantly reduces energy and water use and operates on renewable energy or verified carbon offsets, cutting carbon emissions to net zero. The certified portfolio covers 50 office buildings across Metro Manila, Laguna, Cebu, Baguio, Iloilo and Bacolod, including corporate headquarters and business process outsourcing facilities.

The EDGE Zero Carbon certifications were formally awarded on January 22 in Bonifacio Global City, following independent audits conducted by the Philippine Green Building Initiative, an approved certifier of the International Finance Corp. (IFC), which developed the EDGE green building standard.

Ayala Land said the milestone shows that large-scale sustainability is practical and measurable. The company noted that verifying building performance through internationally recognized standards supports lower operating costs, stronger environmental performance and long-term property value.

EDGE Zero Carbon is one of the world’s highest green building benchmarks. To qualify, buildings must first exceed advanced efficiency standards and then demonstrate net-zero carbon operations over at least one year of high occupancy.
