Toyota accelerated electric vehicle expansion for 2026

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) is ramping up its growth and electrification strategy, announcing plans to roll out five new models in 2026 as it builds on strong sales momentum and demand for locally-produced vehicles.

TMP said the upcoming lineup will include the Urban Cruiser EV, Land Cruiser Hybrid, Land Cruiser FJ, next-generation RAV4 Hybrid, and the next-generation Hilux, reflecting a broader push across electric, hybrid, and conventional segments.

“We have five exciting major models lined up and a lot of other improvements coming your way,” TMP President Masando Hashimoto said during a company event on January 29. He added that the RAV4 Hybrid and Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid will be made available soon.

Despite higher sales in 2025, Hashimoto said the company is approaching the year ahead with cautious optimism amid shifting market conditions. “TMP will move forward with cautiousness, but we are ready for any movement and any challenge ahead,” he said.

TMP closed 2025 with total sales of 229,447 units for Toyota and Lexus, capturing 46 percent market share. This marked a 5.2 percent increase from 2024, driven largely by strong demand for locally manufactured models such as the Vios, Tamaraw, and Innova.

The Tamaraw, which completed its first full year in the market, recorded sales of 17,542 units, quickly gaining traction among Filipino buyers. These three models are produced at TMP’s Santa Rosa, Laguna facilities, which posted a combined output of 63,804 units.

“The numbers show that Filipino craftsmanship is very much alive,” Hashimoto said.

For 2026, TMP will focus on expanding access to mobility while strengthening customer engagement through a more seamless ownership experience.

Hashimoto described 2025 as a milestone year for electrification, citing the launch of the Toyota Ativ hybrid in October and the introduction of the bZ4X, the brand’s first battery electric vehicle in the Philippines.

Priced from P2.699 million with a range of up to 570 kilometers, the bZ4X positions Toyota among the leading EV players in the local market. Hashimoto said Filipino consumers can now choose from gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and battery electric options, reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to “mobility for all.”
