ASE Philippines expands, powers high-tech export growth

ASE Philippines is pushing deeper into the global semiconductor race with a 26,000-square-meter expansion at the Gateway Business Park–Special Economic Zone in General Trias, Cavite, reinforcing the country’s position in high-technology manufacturing and exports.

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority said the expansion is expected to generate new jobs, lift export capacity, and accelerate the deployment of advanced manufacturing technologies, while strengthening linkages across the domestic semiconductor supply chain.

PEZA highlighted ASE PH’s strategic importance, pointing to its Autoline-enabled production platforms capable of delivering rapid 24-hour manufacturing turnaround. These are supported by in-house Reliability Testing and Failure Analysis capabilities that enable rigorous product validation, fast fault isolation, and consistently high-reliability output.

With these capabilities, ASE PH is positioning the Philippines as a critical hub for semiconductor manufacturing and services supporting Internet of Things, automotive, industrial, and other mission-critical applications with demanding quality and speed requirements.

ASE has operated in the Philippines since 1994, when it began as Cypress Semiconductor Philippines. Today, the company employs 825 workers, underscoring its long-standing role in the local electronics and export manufacturing sector.

Beyond bricks and equipment, ASE PH is investing in people through the ASE Institute, its in-house training platform offering intensive entry-level and engineering-focused programs to meet rising demand for highly skilled, future-ready talent.

The expansion is paired with sustainability initiatives, including water conservation, green energy adoption, and localization of materials and supplies, aligning growth with environmental responsibility and a more resilient, localized supply chain.

Industry observers say the investment reinforces confidence in Philippine economic zones, signals long-term commitment from multinational chip players, and supports government efforts to move the electronics sector up the value chain, anchoring innovation, exports, and inclusive regional growth momentum.
