GSIS awards Pasig City 2025 Seal of Protection, cites strong risk protection

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has awarded Pasig City the 2025 Seal of Protection, recognizing the city’s consistent insurance coverage of public assets and its readiness to respond to disasters and emergencies.

GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso personally handed the Seal of Protection Award plaque to Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto during the city’s flag-raising ceremony on February 2. Pasig City was named a Gold Awardee and Hall of Famer after achieving Gold status for three consecutive award cycles.

The Seal of Protection Award is given to local government units (LGUs) that regularly insure government buildings, facilities, and other assets with GSIS. The award highlights the importance of insurance in ensuring that critical public infrastructure—such as schools, health centers, and government offices—can be repaired quickly and continue operating after calamities.

Veloso said insurance is essential to the uninterrupted delivery of public services, especially during crises. He noted that insured schools can resume classes sooner, health facilities can remain open, and local governments can continue serving their communities after disasters. He also thanked Pasig City for its partnership with GSIS.

Mayor Sotto, in turn, expressed appreciation for GSIS’ continued support, saying that the agency’s accessible and responsive insurance services help the city protect its facilities and recover faster from unexpected events.
