DMCI Mining sets record nickel output in 2025

DMCI Mining Corp. reported a record nickel ore production of 2 million wet metric tons (WMT) in 2025, up 33 percent from 1.5 million WMT in 2024.

Nickel ore shipments also increased by 31 percent to 1.9 million WMT, the company’s second-highest level on record. This was driven by higher output from its Zambales operations and the start of mining activities at the Long Point mine in Palawan.

Company president Tulsi Das Reyes said the nickel industry is showing signs of recovery after a difficult period, helped by stronger prices and improved operations. He added that these factors support the company’s growth and benefit host communities.

DMCI Mining expects 2026 to be another record year, with plans to produce up to 3 million WMT of nickel ore, or at least 50 percent more than in 2025. Reyes said the company had a strong start to the year, particularly in January.

The company also reported progress in mine rehabilitation. Its subsidiary, Berong Nickel Corp., has rehabilitated more than 174 hectares in Palawan under the country’s first approved final mine rehabilitation and decommissioning plan for a nickel mine. The program is on track for completion next year, after which the area will be turned over to the government for possible use in eco-tourism, agro-forestry, and inland fish farming.

DMCI Mining is a wholly owned subsidiary of DMCI Holdings Inc. and exports nickel ore mainly to China and other overseas markets. Its mining assets are located in Palawan and Zambales.
