Satellite internet brings reliable connectivity to remote areas

PLDT Enterprise is expanding the use of satellite internet to help remote and hard-to-reach communities and businesses stay connected. Through its Starlink services, launched in 2025, PLDT has become the first telecom provider in the country authorized to offer Starlink to both government and private users. The service is already being used by groups such as the Camarines Sur provincial government and private enterprises to support daily operations and public services.

Using low-earth-orbit satellites, Starlink provides fast and reliable internet in areas where fiber or mobile networks are limited or unavailable. This has proven useful for schools, hospitals, farms, banks, and local governments, as well as for disaster response efforts where communication is critical. The technology also serves as a backup connection to keep essential services running during network outages.

PLDT Enterprise says satellite connectivity is becoming a practical option for organizations that need stable internet in isolated or disaster-prone locations. By combining satellite services with fiber, wireless, cybersecurity, and cloud solutions, the company aims to improve digital access nationwide and support sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, logistics, and public services.
