Globe shifts focus to network quality, tops Ookla consistency rankings

Globe Telecom Inc. said it has shifted its strategy from simply expanding coverage to delivering total network reliability, as it was named the Most Consistent Mobile and Fixed Network and the leader in 5G Coverage in the Philippines by Ookla for the second half of 2025.

The company said success in today’s telecom market is no longer defined by peak speeds alone, but by how consistently customers stay connected in real-life situations—at work, at home, and on the move. Globe’s performance was measured through consistency scores, which reflect how often a network meets minimum speed standards across different locations.

For the second half of 2025, Globe posted a Mobile Consistency Score of 87.51 percent, the highest in the industry. It also recorded a Fixed Consistency Score of 88.84 percent in the fourth quarter, supporting stable internet service for homes and businesses. Globe also earned the top 5G Coverage Score of 490, showing wide and strategic network reach.

Globe president and chief executive officer Carl Cruz said reported coverage does not always match the actual experience of users, particularly in remote or disaster-prone areas. He said Globe is investing not just in expanding coverage, but in improving capacity, redundancy, and network resilience to ensure dependable service.

The company said its continued investments in mobile, fiber, and 5G infrastructure have led to faster average speeds, with mobile speeds rising to 34.8 Mbps, up 8 percent year-on-year, and broadband speeds reaching 120.4 Mbps, a 36 percent increase. These speeds support everyday needs such as video streaming, online work, video calls, and smart-home use.

Cruz said Globe’s priority is to deliver consistent and reliable connectivity that supports daily life, noting that network performance should be judged by how well it works for customers in real-world conditions.
