Globe is strengthening its efforts to protect children online as part of Safer Internet Day 2026, warning that online sexual abuse and exploitation of children remains a growing threat as internet access expands in the Philippines.
Under this year’s theme, “Ako, Ikaw, Tayo: Konektado at Protektado,” Globe said keeping children safe online requires shared responsibility among companies, families, schools, and communities.
Alongside investments in cybersecurity, the company is focusing on education and easy reporting tools to help users spot risks and report abuse.
Globe said it continues to secure its network through advanced filtering systems, real-time threat blocking, and platforms such as the Globe StopSpam portal. These tools allow users to report suspicious messages, scams, and harmful content.
Education is also a key part of Globe’s strategy. Through its Digital Thumbprint Program, the company trained more than 16,500 students and educators in 2025 on digital citizenship, online safety, privacy, and child protection. Since the program started in 2016, nearly 2 million students nationwide have taken part.
In 2025, Globe reported blocking 967 million scam and spam messages, disabling more than 272,000 SIM cards linked to abuse, and taking down over 17,000 malicious domains, including illegal gambling sites.
Child protection measures included blocking more than 3,000 domains connected to child sexual abuse and exploitation, supported by a US$2.7 million investment in advanced content-filtering technologies.
Globe also backs the government-run MAKABATA 1383 helpline to improve reporting of online abuse and child rights violations.
Globe said these efforts are part of its ongoing #MakeITSafe campaign, which aims to combine stronger digital security with education to help create a safer online environment for children and families.
