Collins Aerospace, a unit of US-based aerospace and defense giant RTX Corporation, is expanding its operations at the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) in Tanauan City, Batangas.
The company signed a new agreement with FPIP in January adding 7,846 square meters to its existing facility. The expansion aims to improve efficiency, increase production, and meet rising global demand in the aerospace industry. The new facility is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2026.
Collins Aerospace produces airplane cabin interior products such as galleys, galley inserts, lavatories, and seats. The company recently manufactured new economy class seats for Philippine Airlines’ refurbished Airbus A321ceo fleet.
Mary DeStaffan, general manager of Collins Aerospace’s Philippine campus, said FPIP has supported the company’s steady growth in the country since 2012. She said the expansion will help Collins better serve the fast-growing aviation market in the Philippines and the region, as well as global customers.
FPIP senior vice president Yutaro Kuryu said the expansion reflects rising demand for advanced aerospace manufacturing in the Philippines. He added that the project will also create more job opportunities for Filipinos and strengthen the country’s role in the global aerospace industry.
FPIP is a 600-hectare industrial park established in 1996 through a joint venture between First Philippine Holdings Corp. and Japan’s Sumitomo Corp. It hosts more than 150 companies and employs nearly 80,000 workers.
RTX, the parent company of Collins Aerospace, is the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, with businesses that include Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon.
