PH eyes Nvidia chain for tech gains

The Philippines is stepping up its bid to capture high-value slices of the global technology supply chain, zeroing in on Tier 1 contract manufacturers within the ecosystem of Nvidia, according to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

Agency documents show a concerted push to strengthen capabilities in critical minerals processing for electric vehicle batteries and silica wafers, while expanding EV manufacturing and automotive electronics production. The strategy aligns local industry with the rapid global pivot toward electrification, artificial intelligence and smart mobility.

Beyond autos, the Philippines is scaling up aviation parts manufacturing, including aircraft actuation systems, as it moves into higher-value aerospace components. Firms are also enhancing precision engineering for consumer and optical products to meet rising global demand.

Advanced manufacturing is gaining traction. PEZA cited growth in micro-molding for ultra-precise plastic components and specialized anodizing processes that support electronics and industrial applications.

The agency is also targeting expansion in multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and integrated device manufacturing, including silicon carbide technologies critical to power electronics, renewable energy systems and next-generation vehicles.

The Nvidia ecosystem spans a global network of fabless chip designers, contract manufacturers, semiconductor foundries, advanced packaging and testing firms, and systems integrators powering AI GPUs, data centers and high-performance computing platforms.

Securing a foothold in that supply chain would signal world-class standards and elevate the Philippines as a credible node in the fast-growing AI and advanced computing markets — a move PEZA hopes will translate into innovation-driven investments and long-term industrial depth.
