BCRemit goes global, targets SMEs everywhere

Philippine-owned fintech BCRemit is rapidly expanding its global reach, now operating in 23 countries while broadening its focus beyond overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to serve small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and global migrant markets.

Traditionally known for its retail remittance services, BCRemit plans to launch cross-border payment solutions tailored for SMEs, freelancers, and business process outsourcing firms. The strategy marks a deliberate pivot toward global corridors such as India, Mexico, and China.

“Our mission has always been to show that Filipino-led innovation can offer transformative solutions to the world,” said founder and CEO Oliver Calma. “By expanding our services beyond our core community, we aim to serve as a global financial partner built on Filipino values ready to serve the world’s most dynamic economies.”

Early 2026 will see BCRemit roll out a QR-payment collection feature in partnership with Coins.ph, simplifying outbound remittances from the Philippines. The move comes as Philippine remittances hit approximately USD51 million in November 2025 alone.

BCRemit leverages blockchain technology and USDC stablecoins via its partnership with Circle Internet Financial, cutting transfer costs to about 1 percent, far below the 6.4 percent global average, and enabling near-instant settlements.

Regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the UK Financial Conduct Authority, and other international bodies, BCRemit has processed more than USD10.5 million in transactions since 2015. Its expansion signals that Filipino-led fintech is poised to compete on a global stage, offering efficient, low-cost solutions for both migrant communities and international SMEs.

BCRemit’s growth underscores a new era for Filipino innovation: one that’s moving beyond remittances to reshape global financial services.
