DPWH to launch “green lane” for trusted contractors to speed up infra projects

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will create a “green lane” to speed up the completion of major infrastructure projects by prioritizing qualified and legitimate contractors.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the agency to fast-track key projects across the country. In response, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the department plans to adopt a system similar to the green lanes used by the Board of Investments (BOI), which gives incentives and faster processing to investors who meet certain standards.

Under the proposed setup, construction firms that meet strict criteria will be given quicker processing and support, encouraging reputable and large contractors to participate in government bidding. Officials believe this will help avoid delays and ensure priority projects are completed on time.

Dizon also said the DPWH is strengthening transparency and reforms. The agency recently launched the Integrity Chain monitoring system in partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which serves as one of the accredited validators to help oversee projects and promote accountability.

The move aims to improve efficiency, attract reliable builders, and ensure that critical infrastructure projects are delivered faster and with greater transparency.
