Business groups forge ASEAN digital alliance

Philippine private sector leaders have formalized a strategic digital alliance aimed at fast-tracking transformation efforts and strengthening the country’s readiness to host the 2026 ASEAN Summit.

The partnership brings together the Private Sector Advisory Council – Digital Infrastructure (PSAC-DI), the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), and GoDigital Philippines under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will run through December 2026.

The agreement establishes a framework for sustained policy dialogue, stakeholder consultations, and joint initiatives centered on digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence adoption, and digital inclusion across Southeast Asia.

It also aims to align private-sector initiatives with ASEAN-BAC priorities and the Philippine government’s digital agenda, particularly programs supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), emerging technologies, and regional digital-economy integration.

The signing was led by PSAC-DI Sector Lead Myla Villanueva, ASEAN-BAC Philippines Chair Jose Ma. Concepcion III, and GoDigital Philippines Chair Mark S. Gorriceta, alongside representatives from partner organizations.

“This partnership underscores the private sector’s readiness to support the Philippines’ role as ASEAN host and to help shape a more inclusive, innovative, and secure digital future for the region,” Villanueva said, noting the goal is to ensure that digital transformation translates into tangible gains for Filipino businesses and communities.

Under the MOA, PSAC-DI will spearhead consultations, knowledge-sharing sessions, and capacity-building initiatives to bolster MSME competitiveness and contribute to ASEAN-level working groups.

The alliance will also prepare policy inputs, identify speakers, and mobilize industry sponsorships for summit-linked events—reinforcing public-private collaboration as the Philippines positions itself at the forefront of Southeast Asia’s digital economy push.
