    Caloocan’s People’s Park gets P50-million makeover

Caloocan City’s People’s Park has reopened following a P50-million redevelopment funded by the Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation Corporation (MRP Foundation). The renovation was inaugurated in February by mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan and MRP Foundation chairman Clarence Chung, coinciding with the city’s 64th cityhood anniversary celebration.

The upgraded park now features landscaped gardens, a children’s playground, jogging lanes, fitness equipment, picnic areas, a pickleball court, seating, walkways, food kiosks, and enhanced security. It is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering a space for recreation, community events, and economic opportunities for local vendors.

Chung emphasized the importance of communal spaces for building stronger communities and expressed hope that the park would serve as a vibrant hub for recreation, culture, and sports.

The project supports Caloocan City’s “greener city” and smart city initiatives, reflecting efforts to provide accessible green spaces for residents. It is part of MRP Foundation’s broader programs on environment, education, culture, and health, in partnership with PAGCOR.
