Cebu Pacific stays on top as PH lead domestic airline

Cebu Pacific remained the Philippines’ leading domestic airline in 2025, reinforcing its role as a key player in the country’s aviation industry.

Data from the Civil Aeronautics Board showed that the Gokongwei-led carrier flew 16.2 million passengers last year, up 8 percent from 15 million in 2024. The growth highlights Cebu Pacific’s continued strength in the local market and its importance in keeping air travel accessible and affordable for Filipino travelers.

Other airlines trailing Cebu Pacific in the domestic sector were PAL Express with 8.4 million passengers, Philippines AirAsia Inc. with 4.6 million, and Cebgo with 2.06 million.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) carried 1.35 million domestic passengers as it continued to focus more on international routes.

Total domestic passenger traffic reached 33.24 million in 2025, surpassing 32.13 million in 2024. The increase signals a full recovery to pre-pandemic levels, ending a five-year downturn that began in 2020. For customers, this recovery means more flight options, improved connectivity between islands, and more competitive fares.

In the international market, Philippine Airlines led with 6.51 million passengers, narrowly ahead of Cebu Pacific’s 6.45 million. Philippines AirAsia carried 1.03 million international passengers, while Royal Air Charter Service and PAL Express accounted for smaller shares.

Domestic carriers transported 14.09 million international passengers, while foreign airlines carried 15.01 million. Overall international traffic climbed to 29.1 million in 2025, up from 27.78 million the year before, reflecting sustained demand for overseas travel.

Cebu Pacific’s strong domestic performance underscores its corporate significance as a growth driver in Philippine aviation, supporting tourism, trade, and regional development while continuing to serve as a primary travel option for millions of Filipinos.
