In line with Safer Internet Day 2026, Globe Telecom partnered with Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) to hold an interactive learning session on artificial intelligence (AI) and online safety for families.
Titled The Secret Digital Map: Exploring AI and Online Safety for Families, the event took place at the National Museum of Fine Arts. It gathered children, parents, and teachers for storytelling, guided discussions, and hands-on activities focused on data privacy, AI, and responsible use of technology.
The session is part of Globe’s year-long partnership with CANVAS, anchored on the children’s book Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy. The initiative aims to make complex digital topics easier to understand through art and storytelling, helping families talk about online safety in simple and relatable ways.
During the event, participants learned how AI works in daily life and discussed practical steps families can take to stay safe online. Globe representatives also led short talks on responsible AI use and data privacy, sharing age-appropriate tips to help children develop safe digital habits.
Atty. Irish Saladanan-Almeida, Globe’s chief privacy officer and vice president for AI, Cybersecurity, and Data Privacy, said children are growing up in a digital-first world. She stressed the importance of guiding both parents and children in making smart and informed choices online.
Privacy Commissioner Johann Carlos S. Barcena of the National Privacy Commission highlighted the need to protect children’s personal data. He said conversations like these help families build healthy online habits and create safer digital spaces at home.
CANVAS officials also underscored the role of art in raising awareness about social issues affecting children today. They said storytelling helps families better understand topics like AI and data privacy and encourages continued discussions at home.
Safer Internet Day is a global campaign that promotes a safer and more respectful online environment, especially for children and young people. Globe said it remains committed to promoting responsible digital citizenship through education, protection, and empowerment programs for Filipino families.
