PLDT Inc. announced on Friday that it is expanding community partnerships this year to strengthen the protection of its telecommunications infrastructure. By working closely with local barangays, the National Telecommunications Security Council (NTSC), and other service providers, the company aims to prevent cable theft and vandalism while improving emergency response and crisis management.
PLDT’s nationwide Asset Protection Divisions (APD) have already made an impact, apprehending individuals involved in stealing or attempting to steal network equipment. In the second half of 2025 alone, recovered items were valued at around P18 million, highlighting the role of field teams, law enforcement, and community partners in keeping services running.
Leo A. Gonzales, PLDT’s vice president for Property, Facilities, and Asset Resiliency Management, emphasized the importance of ongoing vigilance. “As security threats continue to evolve, the industry must adapt to protect critical infrastructure that supports millions of Filipinos every day,” he said.
For commuters and everyday users, these efforts mean more reliable connectivity and fewer service disruptions, ensuring that essential communication services remain stable during emergencies or daily travel.
PLDT continues to support NTSC initiatives to secure telecom networks and promote resilient, reliable connectivity across the Philippines.
