    SMX expands Luzon footprint boldly

SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. is set to broaden its presence in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector with three new SMX Trade Halls slated to open across Luzon by fourth quarter of 2026.

The new event spaces will be strategically located in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija; Santo Tomas, Batangas; and Santa Rosa, Laguna, collectively adding more than 13,000 square meters of leasable exhibition space. The expansion is designed to boost SMX’s capacity for trade shows, corporate functions, and large-scale community events outside Metro Manila, catering to growing regional demand.

“These three trade halls will not only expand our geographic reach but also create more opportunities for businesses and communities to connect,” said Walid Wafik, senior vice president of SMHCC.

The halls will be integrated within thriving commercial hubs, offering flexible layouts and modern infrastructure that link seamlessly with surrounding retail and hospitality developments.

The project complements SMX’s broader expansion strategy, including the upcoming SMX Convention Center Seaside Cebu, set to become the country’s largest convention center, and SMXCITE (Center for International Trade and Exhibitions), envisioned as the Philippines’ biggest exhibition and trade hall venue.

SMHCC said the expansion reinforces its position as a leader in the Philippine MICE industry, strengthening infrastructure that supports both local and national events. By adding strategic hubs outside Metro Manila, the company aims to decentralize the country’s events landscape, making large-scale conventions more accessible to emerging economic regions.

The three new trade halls mark a major step in SMX’s mission to combine modern event solutions with regional economic growth, signaling confidence in the sustained demand for business, leisure, and community gatherings across Luzon.
