The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) has been recognized as an Environmental Sustainability Partner during the 2026 Gawad Kabalikat sa Kapaligiran organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), highlighting the auto industry’s expanding role in the country’s environmental agenda.
The recognition is awarded to organizations that demonstrate strong environmental performance, promote sustainability initiatives, and uphold environmental regulations. It also underscores the importance of collaboration among government, industry, and communities in protecting natural resources and improving environmental quality.
CAMPI said the recognition reflects a maturing partnership between regulators and the automotive sector as both sides work to balance environmental goals with economic growth. The Philippine automotive industry has been positioning itself as a key contributor to the country’s mobility transition, where sustainability is increasingly becoming a strategic imperative rather than a compliance exercise.
CAMPI identifies sustainability as one of the pillars supporting its long-term vision for the industry. This pillar complements its focus on technology and innovation, vehicle and road safety, and broader industry development — priorities aimed at strengthening the automotive sector’s role in national progress.
Central to this strategy is CAMPI’s advocacy of a multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality. Rather than relying on a single solution, the group supports a technology-neutral framework that allows for a balanced transition toward vehicle electrification while encouraging parallel research on carbon-neutral fuels and renewable energy.
The organization also promotes international collaboration and policy dialogue to support circular economy practices across the automotive value chain.
“Award recognition is a milestone achievement for CAMPI and its member companies,” said CAMPI vice president Rhys Alexei Y. Murillo. “Sustainability is an important pillar of the automotive industry and requires a shared blueprint for change.”
CAMPI said its member companies will continue advancing cleaner vehicle technologies and strengthening sustainability practices as the industry navigates the transition toward a lower-carbon mobility future.
