Megawide accelerates buildout under expanded 4PH

Megawide Construction Corp. has begun construction on two socialized housing projects under the expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, marking a faster pace of private sector participation in the flagship housing initiative of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Once completed, the developments are expected to benefit at least 21,000 working-class Filipinos seeking affordable and secure housing.

The ceremonial first concrete pouring took place on March 4 in Dasmariñas, Cavite, led by Jose Ramon Aliling, secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, alongside Marilene Acosta, chief executive officer of the Pag-IBIG Fund, and Edgar Saavedra, CEO of Megawide.

The projects will be developed by PH1 World Developers, Megawide’s property arm, across sites in Barangays Salitran and Paliparan. Plans call for 26 multi-storey condominium towers that will generate more than 7,000 housing units designed for low- to middle-income households.

The groundbreaking came only weeks after Saavedra pledged to deliver 100,000 socialized housing units during the Marcos administration—an ambitious target that signals Megawide’s growing role in the government’s effort to address the country’s housing backlog.

Aliling said the developer’s involvement reflects increasing confidence among private firms in the revamped 4PH framework. “Megawide’s active participation in the Expanded 4PH is a solid testament to the growing trust of the private sector in the flagship program of the Marcos Jr. administration and the reforms being implemented in DHSUD,” he said.

Backed by financing from the Pag-IBIG Fund, the projects will feature community amenities including open parks, playgrounds, controlled entry and exit points, parking areas and a clubhouse, elements aimed at creating livable, secure neighborhoods rather than simply adding housing stock.
