San Miguel Foods, GSIS partner to expand livelihood opportunities for members

San Miguel Foods (SMF) has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to make its livelihood and small business programs more accessible to GSIS members, pensioners, dependents, and qualified public sector cooperatives and unions.

Under the partnership, GSIS stakeholders will have a dedicated channel to apply for SMF’s community reseller and small food business programs, which are also open to other participants nationwide.

The initiative allows qualified applicants to start as community resellers of SMF products with capital starting at P2,000, without franchise or royalty fees. Participants can sell a range of food products such as hotdogs, nuggets, bacon, corned beef, luncheon meat, ice cream, cheese, margarine, salad aids, and coffee mixes. Some resellers may also offer Magnolia chicken products, including Magnolia Timplados.

For those seeking larger ventures, SMF also offers food cart packages featuring Tender Juicy Hotdogs starting at P11,120 for indoor booths. Other business concepts available under the program include Purefoods Deli, The Cozy Kitchen by Purefoods, and Star Nutri-Meats.

Additional livelihood options include baking businesses through San Miguel Mills Homebakers using Bake Best premixes, as well as pet care and agriculture ventures such as Nutri Chunks pet food and the B-MEG Hog Raising Program, which provides feeds and technical support.

GSIS president and general manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso said the agreement supports the agency’s goal of strengthening the financial security of government employees and pensioners by connecting them with practical income opportunities.

Meanwhile, Ramon S. Ang, chairman and CEO of San Miguel Corporation, said the partnership reflects the company’s broader effort to help Filipino families build additional sources of income through accessible and manageable small businesses.

Participants will receive training in business operations, food handling, customer service, and store management. Applications will undergo review and site visits by the SMF operations team before approval.

Interested GSIS members and partners may apply by submitting a letter of intent, indicating their preferred livelihood package and location, along with valid government-issued IDs, to sanmiguelfoodsbusiness@sanmiguel.com.ph.

The partnership aims to combine GSIS’ mandate of supporting its members with SMF’s experience in building food-based enterprises, providing government workers and their families with practical opportunities to earn additional income.
