Digital Thumbprint Program hits 2M learners in 10-year push for digital safety

Globe Telecom’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) has reached more than two million students and educators nationwide, marking its 10th anniversary and highlighting the growing importance of digital safety and responsible technology use.

Launched in 2016 to promote online safety and digital responsibility, the program has evolved into a nationwide initiative that equips learners with practical skills such as protecting personal data, practicing cyber ethics, and navigating online spaces responsibly.

In 2019, Globe partnered with the Department of Education (Philippines) to integrate responsible online behavior into the K–12 values formation curriculum, expanding the program’s reach to millions of learners.

When schools shifted online during the pandemic, Globe moved its modules to the Globe of Good YouTube channel, where the lessons have recorded over 432,000 views.

Participation continues to grow, with 16,560 students and teachers joining DTP workshops in 2025. Globe also launched the Digital Thumbprint Student Ambassador Program the same year, piloted with the Technological Institute of the Philippines to train students as peer mentors on digital safety.

To address emerging risks, the 2026 DTP curriculum now includes 36 modules covering topics such as AI ethics, digital etiquette, digital rights, and Philippine cyber laws.

Globe’s digital literacy efforts were recently recognized at the 2026 Consumer Choice Awards by Standard Insights, where it received Excellence in Digital Literacy and Safety.

The company also contributed to global digital inclusion discussions through the GSMA guide “The Business Imperative for Digital Inclusion,” which helps mobile operators promote safe and meaningful internet use.

A decade after its launch, the Digital Thumbprint Program continues to empower young Filipinos to become responsible digital citizens and leaders.
