Philippine health app mWell, owned by Metro Pacific Health Tech Corp., won a Global Mobile (GLOMO) Award at the Mobile World Congress 2026 held in Barcelona.
The company received the award for Best Mobile Innovation Supporting Emergency or Humanitarian Situations under the Tech4Good category. It is the first Philippine health technology app to win in this category.
The win marks mWell’s second GLOMO award, following its 2023 recognition for Best Mobile Innovation for Digital Life.
mWell chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said digital innovation plays an important role in promoting national progress and expanding access to healthcare.
“We continue to harness technology to bring quality healthcare closer to every Filipino,” Pangilinan said.
mWell president and CEO Chaye Cabal-Revilla said the recognition supports the company’s goal of improving healthcare access, especially for underserved communities.
The GLOMO Awards, organized by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association), recognize mobile innovations that improve connectivity and people’s lives worldwide. Winners were announced on March 4 and selected by a panel of more than 250 independent experts from the global mobile industry.
With the recognition, mWell joins global companies such as Apple, Samsung, Huawei, China Mobile, and China Telecom, which also won awards in various categories this year.
The mWell platform, together with KonsultaMD, currently serves 7.3 million users, with 37 percent coming from vulnerable and underserved sectors.
To expand healthcare access, the company has deployed 179 mWell “OnTheGo Clinic-in-a-Bag” units to remote islands, Indigenous communities, correctional facilities, and disaster-hit areas, helping nearly 891,000 people across 17 Indigenous communities.
