Cybersecurity company Fortinet has announced the release of FortiOS 8.0, a new version of its operating system designed to improve network security and simplify IT management.
The update was introduced at the Fortinet Accelerate 2026 event and includes new tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI), enhanced cloud security, and protections designed for future quantum computing threats.
FortiOS 8.0 focuses on three main areas: AI-driven security, next-generation secure access service edge (SASE), and quantum-safe technology.
To address growing use of AI in workplaces, the system adds features that allow organizations to monitor how AI tools are used, block risky actions, and detect hidden data threats. It also improves data protection by identifying sensitive information in images and screenshots, not just text.
The update also strengthens cloud and remote work security through improved SASE features, helping companies manage network traffic more efficiently and securely across different locations.
In addition, FortiOS 8.0 introduces quantum-safe cryptography to prepare for future cyber risks posed by quantum computing, helping protect encrypted data and secure connections.
According to Ken Xie, the new system aims to reduce complexity while improving visibility and security as organizations adopt AI, cloud services, and hybrid work setups.
Fortinet said the release is part of its broader effort to provide a unified platform that supports digital transformation while maintaining strong cybersecurity protections.
