BPI Direct BanKo, Inc., the microfinance unit of Bank of the Philippine Islands, continued to expand financial services for underserved Filipinos, particularly self-employed micro-entrepreneurs, in 2025.
The bank reported releasing ₱23.7 billion in loans during the year, helping small business owners sustain and grow their livelihoods. Its key products include NegosyoKo Loan and savings options such as PondoKo and TODO Savings, which also aim to encourage consistent saving habits.
BanKo now serves more than 1.4 million clients through 412 branches nationwide, strengthening its presence in communities with limited access to formal banking. The bank plans to further expand by opening more branches, improving digital onboarding, and introducing QR-based services for easier transactions.
BanKo President Rod Mabiasen Jr. said the bank remains focused on making financial services more accessible to help Filipinos build a better future.
Beyond lending, BanKo is also investing in financial education and community programs. Its BanKommunity Program provides training and financial services to groups such as farmers, fisherfolk, market vendors, and small store owners.
The bank also deploys mobile units called BanKo On-The-Go to reach areas with limited banking access.
With over 3,000 employees nationwide, BanKo highlighted the role of its frontline workers in supporting clients. It recently held its annual Champions Night to recognize employees’ contributions.
Meanwhile, BPI president and CEO TG Limcaoco reaffirmed support for expanding financial access, while actress Kathryn Bernardo continues to promote the bank’s advocacy for micro-entrepreneurs.
