Mount Grace hospitals shift to renewable energy

Mount Grace Hospitals, Inc. (MGHI) has moved 13 of its partner hospitals to renewable energy after signing supply deals with First Gen.

Ten hospitals are now using about 4.5 megawatts of renewable power through the government’s Retail Aggregation Program, which allows businesses to combine electricity demand and choose their supplier.

Two other hospitals shifted about 600 kilowatts of power under the Green Energy Option Program, while one hospital secured 700 kilowatts through the Retail Competition and Open Access scheme. These programs let large electricity users directly select renewable energy providers and negotiate better rates.

The agreements were finalized in December and fully implemented in February 2026.

The hospitals join three other MGHI-affiliated facilities that had earlier switched to renewable energy from First Gen.

First Gen supplies the electricity from hydroelectric plants in Nueva Ecija and geothermal facilities in Leyte and Cotabato.

MGHI said the move is expected to reduce electricity costs and improve efficiency, while supporting environmental goals. First Gen said it will ensure stable power supply as the hospital group transitions to cleaner energy.
