Manila Water boosts supply security with new water sources

Manila Water said it is strengthening water supply reliability for its East Zone customers by expanding alternative water sources, reducing its dependence on Angat Dam.

The company highlighted its control and exclusive use of the Upper Wawa Dam and related bulk water facilities, which can deliver up to 710 million liters per day. These projects, developed through multi-billion-peso investments, are designed to ensure stable supply during peak demand and dry seasons, including El Niño periods.

Additional support comes from the Wawa–Calawis Water Supply System, which sources water from the Upper Marikina River basin. Its key component, the Calawis treatment plant, produces 80 million liters per day and supplies Antipolo City and nearby areas.

Manila Water has also expanded supply from Laguna Lake through the Cardona Water Treatment Plant, which now delivers up to 100 million liters per day. The facility serves around 800,000 residents in Rizal and nearby communities.

The company said these combined investments strengthen long-term water security for about 7.8 million customers in the East Zone, ensuring more reliable service through the summer months and into next year.
